James Atkinson and his friend Rob Gauntlett, both 21 and from Sussex, were discovered in the French Alps.
They were on an adventure holiday to France that ended in tragedy in a climbing accident.
James was a legend, but above all a great friend. He managed to capture the heart of everyone he met. Whether you knew him for years, or only had a brief encounter, you will never forget his charm.
Every aspect of his life was dynamic. His zest for life was unrivalled. One can truthfully say that he took every opportunity that was given to him. I only have dreams for my life. You were living yours.
I along with many others am still lost for words my man, but you are always in my heart. I cherish the times that we have shared together, and thank you for all that you gave me.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family, Atko! You were a great man, and a Legend. My deepest sympathies go out to the loved ones of James and Rob at this time.
